EGM REMINDER | MONDAY 10TH AUGUST

Below is a reminder of the EGM which has been called for next Monday 10th August. Registration from 7pm, with meeting beginning at 7.30pm.

The EGM has been called to fill two vacant positions:

Club Chair
Junior Cricket Lead

Please see below for the details of the night’s agenda and eligibility criteria for voting.

Club Chair

For the position of Chair, two candidates will be voted on by the membership. They are:

Graham Holt
Nigel Corless

Each candidate will be allocated a maximum slot of 5 minutes to introduce themselves to members and explain their reasons for standing.

As more than one candidate has been nominated, the position will be elected via a secret ballot. Ballot papers will be provided to eligible members when they register their attendance on arrival. Details on eligibility criteria for voting is below. Please ensure you read this ahead of Monday.

Junior Cricket Lead

One candidate has been nominated for Junior Cricket Lead. This is current 4th XI captain Stephen Scott.

As only one candidate has been nominated, confirmation of the new role-holder will be made via a public "show of hands" vote.

Voting Eligibility

Voting for both positions is open to all active, adult members (social and playing)
As per club rules, for the purposes of voting, adults are classified as anyone no longer eligible to play Under 18’s age group cricket.
Please note this point, those who are 18 but are still able to play U18s cricket are NOT eligible to vote
For all voting and to stand for a role, no membership payments must be outstanding
No proxy or online voting options are available. Members must be present to vote

7.30pm | Meeting Open + Introduction

7.35pm | Club Chair Candidates Introductions (Graham Holt, then Nigel Corless)

7.45pm | Vote on Club Chair

8pm | Club Chair Result Confirmed

8.10pm | Show of Hands Vote for Junior Cricket Lead

8.15pm | Meeting Closes

Nigel Corless Elected Club Chair; Stephen Scott To Lead Junior Section

Mottram Cricket Club is pleased to confirm that Nigel Corless has been elected as the new club chair , following a vote of members at an EGM on Monday 10th August. Nigel now takes over the position from Ayrton Fielding, who has stepped away from the role due to family and work commitments. The committee would like to thank Graham Holt for also standing to be Chair. Graham is a life member, who has previously held the Chair and President roles at the club. Nigel is a well-known face around the club who was already serving on the Committee as Grounds and Facilities Lead. He is also lead coach of our Women’s Team and a regular member of our Over 40’s team. Speaking to members at the EGM, Nigel said: "Being chair of this club is a privilege and a huge responsibility. It is not just about standing at the front and directing, but standing behind the club and ensuring it thrives for future generations . We have 7 seniors teams, including 2 women's teams and a growing, successful junior section. I think with some further developments, on and off the field, we can realise the full potential of our club and create a legacy that lasts well beyond any single season ." Stephen Scott was also confirmed as the new Junior Cricket Lead at the EGM. Stephen is the current 4th XI captain and will continue in this role alongside his new role with the junior set-up. He replaces Chris Green-Buckley who remains 3rd XI captain but has stepped down from the junior role due to increased work committments On being confirmed in the role, Stephen said: "I am very excited and proud to be taking up this role. I have seen first hand as 4th XI captain and a parent, the good work that has gone into the junior set-up over the past few years. I am looking forward to getting stuck in and helping take it to new heights. Thank you to Chris for his hard work and leaving it in an exciting position."
