Despite the cricket finishing, we have been busy over the last six or so weeks. I’m happy to provide a roundup of what we have been doing, as well as a look ahead at what’s to come.
Below, you can find information on:
Further, please come in and support the club throughout the winter where you can, we’re open regularly for a quiet beer, for a social events and show United and City regularly too.
Your support is vital in order to continue driving our facilities and club forward.
Have a great weekend, and I hope to see as many of you as possible at the Race Night a week on Saturday.

Volunteer Bar Effort
I’m delighted with how our volunteer bar effort has gone so far since the end of the cricket season. To recap, this is the idea of staffing quieter opening hours in the winter (Sunday afternoons without a big football match on for example) with a volunteer.
So far, we have saved over £1000 in wages. Giving time to the club that saves money directly, is about as big a contribution as you can make and for that I am so grateful of those who have stepped up.
Thank you to
Mark Hannon, Paul Fletcher, Mitch Wood, Sam Bennett and Adam Fitton for their contributions and continued commitment. It is invaluable.
Junior Cricket
As we know, Junior cricket isn’t confined to the summer months.
Our
U9s
and
U11s have already begun Friday Night fixtures in the Dave Bardsley Super League.
Our
U13s begin weekly fixtures on Friday Nights at Audenshaw School from Friday 27th October.
U9s, U11s and
U13s start their winter training at Audenshaw School from Sunday 29th October, 2pm till 4pm.
U15s have a break until January but
U18s start training on Friday 27th October at Alder High School. 7pm till 8pm.
Open Forum
We’re holding an “open forum” on Wednesday 15th November from 7:30pm.
This is an opportunity to come down and speak to the Executive Committee members, to offer help where you might be able to get involved, as well as to ask any questions to committee members.
If you are interested in any way about getting involved, simply have ideas or want more information, I encourage you to come and have chat with us.
New Beers, bar refurb & general bar update
We’ve not stood still since the end of the season. In fact, we’ve been really busy!
Firstly, we managed to squeeze a beer store refurbishment at the start of the month, which saw the beer store cleaned, the walls and floor painted and some new space saving measures installed. Thank you to
Mitch Wood, Adie Davis and Gary Beech for their time. We were up against it time wise, with only 3 and a bit days to turn everything round from Monday to Thursday afternoon.
BEER STORE - BEFORE & AFTER.
The big news… is that we have signed a 12-month contract with Budweiser Brewing Group, which will see our draught lines replaced with Mahou, Becks, Magners & Camden Pale Ale. It’s a deal that makes financial sense for the club, as well as freshens up our offering, and free’s up some fridge space too.
Further, we’re delighted to announce that we will also be installing “draught” Coke, Diet Coke, Coke zero and Lemonade. This should speed things up a little when you’re ordering. Install for all of this is due within the next four weeks.
We review our bar pricing every October, once the season has finished. Rising costs have meant that our suppliers have increased the price of most lines a number of times during the past 12 months. We haven't passed these rising costs on, and have kept prices the same for as long as we possibly could.
Inevitably however, we have now had to raise the price of some items. We've kept prices the same wherever we could and will continue to do so for as long as possible.
Race Night – Saturday 28th October
Our highly popular race night returns a week on Saturday. Doors open at 6pm, but the race night will begin at 8pm.
Proceeds from this years event will be put towards covers for the full square!
It’s been a well-attended event in the past, so arrive early to secure a seat!

Annual Presentation Night
It’s that time of year again, as we host our Annual Presentation Night and Dinner, on Saturday 18th November.
We’ve moved venue’s this year, heading to Dukinfield Golf Club. There will be a 3 course meal, a DJ, all our senior club awards, and of course a raffle.

Acoustic Sessions
Our Thursday afternoon Acoustic Sessions continue at pace!
Their ever increasing popularity is superb and so it's great to see the club busy each week.
Please see the poster for more information. Just keep your eye out on Facebook, as sessions on occasion change to a Friday.
Weekly Quiz Night
We started running a quiz night at the start of the month, and the take up so far has been brilliant, with 8 teams or more each week.
It’s been great to see the club busy with members and locals, and great to see many new people signing up too.
It’s the same time and same place every week throughout the winter, Thursday’s from 8pm.
- Happy Hour, 8pm to 9pm
- £10 in drinks vouchers for the winning team.
- 3 games of OYE!, for cash prizes.
